Space-age and spacious: Kia EV9 GT-Line S full detailed review
With more than 300 miles of range, charging in under 30 minutes, and space for up to seven adults, is the Kia EV9 the best car for large families?
In this review I go through everything from boot measurements to remote parking.

The ultimate road trip EV? Tesla Model 3 Italian road trip: part 2
Просмотров 21 тыс.2 месяца назад
After a fairly rocky start in part one (ruclips.net/video/FBM_znik1KQ/видео.html), will we warm to the Tesla Model 3 driving back from Italian Alps to England? Here's what we did in the mountains (walking and eating primarily), the journey home, and our painfully honest concluding thoughts. And yes - this was back in 2022 and it took me this long edit it. Kia EV9 rapid charge speed: up to 80% on a spring day with battery preconditioning
Просмотров 19 тыс.2 месяца назад
EV9 could be the perfect road trip machine for a big family, but how fast can it rapid charge? I try it on a spring day (about 12°C), battle with some charging issues, and try battery preconditioning to see if that helps enable fast charging speeds. I also get geeky with an OBD dongle and Car Scanner (misterev.co.uk/gear/obd-dongle) to see what's going on in the background. - Support the channe...
A quick fix for EV charging infrastructure? A look at EV charger sharing app, Joosup

Lack of charging infrastructure is a real concern for people without off-street parking. We have rapid chargers and destination chargers all over the place, but they won't be as cheap or convenient as charging at home. With so many people already having chargers at home, maybe it makes sense to rent them out when not in use to people that need them? There are a handful of apps that enable this ...

    Looking at a leaf with 9 bars less than 50,000 miles on it. The 1st owner was the one who put those miles on it. The second owner did not drive the car at all for 3 years. Is this car safe?

    • @MrEV
      @MrEV 5 дней назад

      The car’s perfectly safe, but the battery has clearly degradated. I’ll be making a video about it soon as a neighbour got a Leaf with about 9 bars too and although it can be repaired, it’s not cheap. Personally, unless it’s an absolute bargain, I’d go for another Leaf. Also, bear in mind that 30kWh Leafs have notoriously bad batteries.

    I 100% fill my tank to full on my car. I will use a charger however I need to use a charger, if someone knocks my window, i'll respond with "as long as I need to". You're free to look at the charger, you're free to guess how long I'm charging, you're free to do all of those things, otherwise consider that you are a car on a garage forecourt and there is a queue.

  • @lmaoroflcopter
    @lmaoroflcopter 8 дней назад

    I think the issue is a feeling of "but it's unfair". If there is a need for that person to be charging to 100%, then so be it. If the charger is occupied and you have no other option, you have no other option. If the charger is occupied and you do have other options and don't want to wait then drive on. All you need to know is that someone is using that charger. Flaviana isnt making sense except from a selfish perspective. "If its a woman at night, dont disturb her" "But if there is someone charging to more than 80% then you should be able to ask" So should we knock on the woman's window at night? Or not? Or is it "If I'm charging, then let me charge". If they are charging to 100% then assume they are charging to 100% for a reason. Rather than out of ignorance. Chill your own sense of entitlement.

    The lack of coordination of the software on Hyundai EVs is why Teslas are just so much better. Tesla's GPS is better than Google Maps, and it embarrasses Car Play. Tesla's GPS is based on Google Maps software, but Tesla overlays its UI on it and greatly improves it. I also doubt that this is a real Range Rover competitor. I am not a fan of Range Rovers because they have terrible reliability records - among the worst of any car. However, they are truly off-road capable. This EV probably is not even in the same class as the Range Rover when you go off-road. Range Rovers will legitimately keep up with Jeeps, which are the gold standard of off-road vehicles (stock vehicles). For a coordinated, efficient, reliable, and comfortable driving experience, there is really no car like Tesla's cars. In many ways, they are state-of-the-art, and that is why the Model Y is the best-selling car in the world. In America, the Model Y is outselling the Ford F150 pickup truck, which is just mind-boggling because it has been the most popular pickup truck for something like two decades and is Ford's best-selling vehicle. Right now, Teslas are just better than every other competing car or truck, gas or electric. That is why Tesla is now worth more than all of the big three automakers combined. Tesla is destroying the mediocre vehicles that Ford, GM, and Chrysler, and it is breathing down Toyota's back. I think that Tesla's real competitor is Rivian.

      @MrEV 8 дней назад

      Definitely more complicated, although things have improved an enormous amount since I did the trip. New Hyundai software is far better with route planning (so I'd not need to use any planning software) and there are more hubs all over Europe - France especially. The best cars for navigation are Teslas, and the ones that use Google OS: Polestar/Volvo/Renault. Road tripping in any of those EVs is so easy.

    Just discovered your channel as i'm looking to get our first electric car. Really helpful and nice to see the point of view of another family, think you've helped convince us to go the electric route. My wife has family in Cortina, Italy but think Cornwall or maybe Scotland will be the furthest we will go, its more for local area and short day trips around Kent/E.Sussex. Just trying to decide which car to go for. Tried Teslas and am not convinced. Have a 2020 Mercedes now and I like all the interior details, found Teslas too minimalist. Thinking either Volvo EX30, Mercedes EQA or BMW ix1. Tough decision. Any suggestions? thanks Andrew.

    This is an old video, but this happened to me and my bf once. While we were getting ready to go because we just finished charging, someone came up to my window while I was in the passenger seat and asked if we were about to move. One, duh, of course we were. Two, my bf was not amused, and he has some hypervigilance from his time serving as a Marine. He's not someone you want to sneak up on! This was in the US so we have a smaller charging network for the land area, but people need to remember basic people skills. You just have to be more patient when you use public chargers.
